Request a Mobility Aid

Thank you for your interest in receiving free medical equipment from Mobility Aids Lending Library in Bloomington, IN. Here’s what you need to know before submitting your request:

  • We are a small, volunteer-based organization. We try to respond promptly, but it can take 1 to 2 weeks from when you request an item to when you receive it. If you need a mobility aid for a specific event, please contact us as far in advance as possible.
  • There are no due dates for equipment. Keep it as long as you need it! But if you don’t need it anymore, please contact us to return it so we can give it to someone else in need. Reselling mobility aids you received from us is strictly prohibited.
  • You’ll need to sign a liability waiver to receive a mobility aid. All items are provided as is. You are responsible for the cost of any repairs or parts.
  • We have a 3 to 6 month wait for folding/portable electric wheelchairs and scooters. Click here to learn about our waiting list. But we almost always have regular power wheelchairs such as Jazzy, Permobil, and Quantum in stock. Some have seat elevators, tilt, recline, and other great features!
  • We can deliver large items such as electric wheelchairs and Hoyer lifts that won’t fit in a standard vehicle. We can only deliver to Monroe, Owen, Morgan, Lawrence, Greene, and Brown counties. Deliveries outside Monroe County may take some time to arrange.
  • All equipment is FREE! Of course, we love donations if you’re able — we’ll use the funds to refurbish items and help more people.

Winter Weather Delays

If you are contacting us during the winter months, December through March, please be aware that it may take longer to arrange appointments. All of our staff and most of our volunteers have physical disabilities, so we’re often unable to go out in snow and sub-freezing temperatures. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
